IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Denleigh "Denny"
F. Meng
April 10, 1947 – February 27, 2024
Denleigh "Denny" F. Meng, 76, passed away unexpectedly at his home in the West Point Township on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024. He was born Apr. 10, 1947 to the late Miles Meng and Evelyn Smith. Denny graduated from Sauk Prairie High School; class of 1965. Following high school, Denny attended MATC in Madison earning an associate degree in Culinary Arts before receiving his draft notice from the U.S. Army where he served and was stationed in Turkey. After his return from the service, Denny and friend Morey Moseman started Doc's Enterprises; analyzing sports and sports gaming picks. While sitting in his office, he spied his future wife running in the field outside his window. On June 2, 1990, Denny was united in marriage to Karen Brickl at St. Aloysius Church, Sauk City. Together they had two wonderful children, Alison and Andrew. Denny later retired from Doc's and went to work for MSA in Baraboo; where he learned the challenges of engineering topography. What he enjoyed most was chauffeuring his kids, to school events and watching them develop into competitive athletes in swimming and soccer. He was his daughters biggest fan as she went on to swim at University of Illinois. Denny loved to play cards; sheepshead, euchre and cribbage and enjoyed his martini dirty. In his retirement he loved being busy at home, roaming his woods and teaching his son the joys of wood splitting. He and Karen enjoyed their home immensely finding so much joy just sitting and talking on the porch. His love of his particularly kept lawn carried over as he mowed lawn at the Lake Wis. County Club. He loved his time there spent on the course, and also knew where all the walleyes were on Lake Wisconsin, but still wouldn't tell you (except for maybe his future son-in-law).
Denny is survived by the love of his life, Karen; his children, Alison (Wesley Kavaleris) and Andrew; his brother Roderick (Mary) Meng; a half sister, Mary Wickman and is further survived by many awesome brother and sister in-laws, nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his half-sister, Carol Janney.
A visitation for Denny will be held on Tuesday, Mar. 5, 2024 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Hooverson Funeral Home, 251 Water St., Sauk City. A private service and interment will be held at Garden Bluff Cemetery at a later date.
