Obituary

Derryll Dean Beich, a good man, passed away on Apr. 3, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Portage, WI on Mar. 22, 1935; the first born son of Walter and Vera (McLean) Beich. Derryll graduated from Baraboo High School in 1953. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy from 1954-58 as Petty Officer 3rd class aboard the USS Thetis Bay, CVHA1. Derryll received the Honorable Mention for Service Above and Beyond.

Derryll retired from Oscar Mayer after 38 years of service from the Spice Department. He was a Union Steward for the Local UFCW for the majority of his time at "Oscar's". Derryll worked Dispatch for the Monona Police Department for many years. He was well liked and respected by his co-workers.

Derryll was an avid golfer and bowler; sometimes on more than one team. He was a fisherman and hunter; he loved himself a good oxtail stew. Derryll loved to garden, cook, grill, and have a good time with friends and family. He loved a good joke to tell and play. Derryll loved and was loved by children. There wasn't an unhappy child he could not calm or get to giggling.
On most days, you could catch him sitting on his porch or looking out the window, with a can of Old Milwaukee. Most Saturday's he could be found in uptown Merrimac, playing cards with his brothers and cousin, Jimmy Biech.

Derryll is survived by his fiancé, Vanyce (Hanson) Walker; his children, Debra (Scott Smith) Beich, and their son Brady (Nicole) Smith and their daughter, Ellarie Smith; Michael (Julie) Beich, and their daughter, Amber (Ryan) Boldt and their son, Sterling Bolt; Vanyce's daughter, Letitia Walker and her sons, Benjamin and Tyler Marsh. He is also survived by his brothers, Dale (Mary) Beich, Dennis (Sheri) Beich; many nieces and nephews. He is further survived by his Best Friend, William Schultz and his loving companion, Sparky.

Derryll was preceded in death by his parents, a half-sister, Carolyn Kachinski, a brother, Duane Beich, and Duane's son, Darin Beich.

As per Derryll's wishes, no service will be held as his desire was to be cremated. Memorials may be directed to the Merrimac Oak Hill Cemetery Association, c/o S.7003 Owl's Head Rd., Merrimac, WI 53561.
Derryll's family would like to thank the hardworking staff of Home Health Hospice. Derryll was well loved and will be greatly missed.
