Obituary

DeVerne "Bud" Cecil Simpson, 84, of Mazomanie, WI passed away after a brief illness. He was born on Jan. 1, 1932; a New Year's baby to the late Sherman and Esther (Schoville)Simpson. He loved growing up on the family farm in Soldiers Grove, WI, and spending time with his dad. At the age of 16 he joined the service where he worked on and flew planes. He also served during the Korean War of which he was very proud, and would tell us endless stories that were fascinating. When dad got out of the service he married the love of his life, Georgia Lee Ewers. They were blessed with 4 children. Dad worked very hard all his life; he worked construction for many years, and then bought his own semi, and started long haul trucking. When he was home he helped with the family business, Simpson's Café. Dad enjoyed life and we loved our time with him to the very end. One of his greatest moments was when he and granddaughter Amber went on the Honor Flight, and we were all there to welcome them home, he talked about it for weeks.

DeVerne "Bud" is survived by his 3 children, Lorna Simpson, Lisa (Todd) Theis, and Michael (Jane) Simpson; grandchildren, Charity (Brad) Kirch, Ashley (Jake) Meudt, Amber (Luke) Schoenemann, Chad (Heather) Theis, and Makayla Simpson; great grandchildren, Destiny and Darien Dean, Jaeger, Garin, Abrie, and Brenly Schoenemann; great-great granddaughter, Gracie Marie Meudt, and his faithful companions, Razzi and Ava. He is further survived by his sister, Jean (Harland) Getter and sister in-law, Val Simpson.

In addition to his parents, DeVerne, was preceeded in death by his wife of 60 years, Georgia Lee; a son, Monte; his in-laws, Les and Violet (Leatherberry) Ewers; a brother, Max Simpson; brother and sister in-law, Jerry and Jean (Ewers) Parker; a niece Shirley (Parker) Nelson; and nephew Greg Parker.

Our dad was an amazing man, always full of love, hugs, and endless stories that we will all cherish forever. DeVerne's family would like to thank Bloomfield Manor in Dodgeville and the 2nd floor nurses for their wonderful care of dad over the last few months. Also thank you to Upland Hills Hospital in Dodgeville for their wonderful care at the very end, and making him as comfortable as possible. Finally, a big thank you to Bud, Connie, and Katie Fries for being our eyes and ears and being there when we could not; and to Katie, you are truly amazing in your care and love of the dogs and your time spent with them; we are forever grateful.

DeVerne's family invites all friends and family to a celebration of his life from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Dec.10, 2016 in Arena, WI at the VFW Hall. A private graveside service will be held.
Fly high daddy, til, we all meet again, love you back!
