Diane L. (Ebert) Kamps, passed away at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg on Thursday, Oct. 5th, 2023 after a 4-year battle with ovarian cancer.  She was born Nov. 17, 1947 in Marshfield, WI; graduating High School there in the class of 1965.  Diane attended U.W. Stout and earned her degree in Home Economics in 1969 then began her teaching career at the Sauk Prairie Middle School.  In 1974 Diane left teaching to own and operate Stich 'N Time, a fabric store in Sauk City.  Her love of sewing and creative talent was an inspiration to many.  She returned to teaching middle school and high school part time in 1983.  In 1992 she accepted a position teaching Wait Staff Training and Dining Operations at Madison College (MATC) from which she retired in 2011.  For many summer school sessions Diane also taught sewing to younger students.  She loved teaching and the chance to motivate, encourage and counsel her students of all ages.

Diane and Fred K. Kamps were married Dec. 21, 1968.  They have been Sauk Prairie residents since 1969.  Diane was a member of GraceWay Church and enjoyed singing in the church choir there.  She was the past president and is a life member of Friends of SP Healthcare (Hospital Auxiliary) where she chaired and/or assisted with numerous events.  For over 20 years she took special joy in leading the decoration of the hospital halls for Christmas.  Diane cherished her home and surroundings.  She collected many things and loved to arrange and rearrange their display around home.  Meal preparation and serving were especially important to her and she made sure it was always "just right".  She took the same care with her dress and personal appearance.

She is survived by her husband, Fred; sister, Sharon Wein; nephews, Mark (Clare) Wein and David (Linda) Wein and great nephews, Zac, Spencer, and Andrew Wein.

A visitation for Diane will be held on Monday, Oct. 9th from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Hooverson Funeral Home, 251 Water St., Sauk City.  A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 10th at 11:00 am at GraceWay Church, 65 13th St., Prairie du Sac; visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of service.  Interment will be held in the Sauk Prairie Cemetery; a luncheon will follow at the Dorf Haus, Roxbury.
