Diane (Stieve) Slotty went to her heavenly home on February 6, 2015. Born to Robert and Helen Stieve on April 13, 1940, in Baraboo, she lived most of her adult life in Sauk Prairie. On August 9, 1958, soon after graduating from Wisconsin Dells High School, she married Harlen Slotty in St. John's Lutheran Church in Baraboo where she was also baptized and confirmed by Pastor Kirschner. Diane loved the Lord and was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Prairie du Sac.
After running a daycare for several years, Diane became a successful Avon representative, a career that she enjoyed for nearly 43 years. Customers became dear friends. She also formed lasting friendships with many other Avon representatives and wore out several managers. She enjoyed entertaining her family and friends with parties for any or no occasion. She frequently gathered with friends to play cards, and started a women's club over 30 years ago, who still meet monthly. When younger and able, she also enjoyed ballroom dancing. Large old homes intrigued her, fascinated by the architecture and ornate detailing of various decorating styles. She toured homes in many states, particularly enjoying the big mansions of the south. For many years, Diane and Harlen celebrated their anniversary by staying in B & B's, a pleasurable experience. Decorating her own home was a passion of hers.
Diane, a lifetime member of the local hospital auxiliary declined to hold an office, choosing instead to work on fund raising events that could combine two of her favorite pastimes, houses and parties. She chaired several Charity Balls and Tour of Homes again making many new friends. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed writing. Once she mastered the computer, she became an email junkie writing long letters to her family and friends and keeping diaries of each of her grandchildren as they grew up.
Her greatest love was for her family, each one so cherished by her. Diane is survived by her son Terry (Sue) and their sons Alex and Keith of Prairie du Sac; her daughter Marlea (Gary) Louis and their children Micael, Rylie, Stephanie and Jason (Cassie) of Prairie du Sac; grandsons Cayden and Blake Arndt of Hollandale; and three great-grandsons Evan, Adam and Owen Louis. She is also survived by a brother Gary (Kathy) Stieve of Baraboo and his four sons and families; as well as a special nephew, Eric (Karen) Taylor and their children of Lodi; her sister-in-law and dear friend Doris Koenig of Reedsburg and her children; a sister of her heart Cindy Neuschwanger of Clermont, Florida; three devoted friends and helpers, Joan DeSomer, Marie Loether and Gloria Moles; as well as many other treasured relatives and friends.
Diane was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Harlen; a daughter Lori Arndt; a son Randall; her sister Sandy Sersland; her parents; and her brother-in-law Leonard Koenig.
