Donald A. Pickarts, age 94, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2023 following a brief illness.  Donald was born February 6th, 1929 the son of Joseph and Lucille Pickarts of Sauk City, Wisconsin. On August 20th, 1954 Donald married Ruth (Beers) Pickarts; she preceded him in death on Apr. 3, 2006.  Together they raised 8 children.

Donald is survived by his children; Mike (Joyce) Wiley, Pat (Lisa) Pickarts, John Pickarts, Mark (Janice) Pickarts, Peter (Renee) Pickarts, Mary Jo (Ken) Preuss, David Pickarts, and Paulette (Paul) Swartz. He is further survived by, 18 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren; brothers Rodney, Melvin and sister Shirley; sister-in-law Corrine Fisher and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Roxann, and a grandson, John Paul Swartz, and a brother and sister.

Don was a decorated Korean War Veteran, loved his kids and grandkids and many other family and friends. He will forever be missed by his family and friends; R.I.P. Donnie, Don, Joe, Papa Don, Grandpa, Herman Schwartz.  Donnie and Ruth together in eternity. We were blessed to have you Dad.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, Oct. 28th  at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 115 Madison St., Sauk City.  A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 am until 12:45 pm at Hooverson Funeral Home, 251 Water St., Sauk City.  Military Honors will be accorded following the mass at the church by the Lachmund-Cramer VFW Post 7694.
