Donald N. Guertin, age 90, died on Sunday, March 8, 2009 at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie. He was born in St. Paul, MN on October 6, 1918, the son of the late Eli and Alice (Ethier-Kelly) Guertin. He was united in marriage to Joyce Mae Ziemendorf. She preceded him in death in 1994. Donald was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in the South Pacific in a PT Squadron alongside John F. Kennedy. He was wounded on January 19, 1944 while on PT 107 on the Solomon Island, which resulted in the loss of his right leg, for which he received the Purple Heart Medal. He is survived by 2 sons, Richard of Sauk City and James of Phoenix, AZ; a sister, Loraine Horne of Sauk City; 6 grandchildren, Bria, Joshua, Brittney, Marty, Melanie and Miranda; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Francis Kelly and an infant son, William. Private family services were held.
