Donald E. Meyer, age 80, passed away on Friday, January 22, 2010 at Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on December 23, 1929 in Troy Township, Sauk County, the son of the late Ervin and Florence (Steuber) Meyer. He was united in marriage to Donna Bair on August 23, 1950. Donald farmed and worked construction. He loved to hunt, fish, play cards, listen to music, pull his team of horses in horse-pulling contests, and was also known to gamble at Ho-Chunk Casino. Donald was a member of Wisconsin Laborers Union, #464.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; three children, Gary "Fuzzy" (fiance Linda) Meyer, Diane (friend Mike) Barrow, and Kathy (friend Rick) Steinhorst; four grandchildren, Melissa, Terry, Nate, and Nichole (Walter); a great-grandson, Connor; two brothers, Duane (Donna) and Robert "Harvey" (friend Jeri) Meyer; a sister, Ardis (John) Trueb; three brothers-in-law, Al (LeDale) Bair, Charles (Barb) Bair, and Tom Bair; a sister-in-law, Sandy Meyer; other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bill; two sisters-in-law, Donna and Joan; an infant daughter; Kathy's friend, Ken Reith.
Funeral services will be held at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Sauk City, at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 26, 2010, with Pastor Bill Kapp officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 25, 2010.
