Obituary

Donald L. "Red" Breunig, age 83, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2017, at his home with his family following a lengthy battle with Lewey Body Dementia. He was born in Roxbury on January 27, 1934, the son of the late Gerhard and Frances (Suchomel) Breunig. Don developed an appreciation for adventure while serving in the Navy. Following his service days, he worked for Breunig & Bolton, Wisconsin Dairies, and Prairie Plumbing and Heating. Never satisfied being idle, Don's love of adventure continued in retirement including softball, bowling, gardening, and travel. He loved the outdoors and his hunting and fishing filled his home with trophies. His passion for life was shared with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Don is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margaret (Speth), his faithful companion Nikko, his children, Kendall (Diane) of Milwaukee, Tim (Sheryl) and Terry (Laura) of Roxbury, Vicki of Sauk City, and Sumalee (Sompong) Asa of Phoenix, AZ, his grandchildren Jill (Marcus), Lisa, April (Jason), Jeremy, Nicole (Patrick), Dallas, Elise, Ayoub, Sofia, AJ, and Nick and great-grandchildren Lily, Lexie, Ryan, Jaxon, and Alana. He is further survived by brothers Ralph (Joanie) and Kenny and sisters Myrtle (Len) Power, Ethel (Harold) Opitz, Audrey Speth, and Darlene (Jack) Kleist. He was preceded in death by his son Tom, his sisters Martha Breunig and Ruth Pulvermacher, his in-laws Edmund & Hilda (Eckstein) Speth, brothers-in-law Paul Pulvermacher, Michael Speth, and Arnold Speth and sister-in-law Cathy Breunig.

Visitation will be held at Hooverson Funeral Home, 251 Water St, Sauk City, WI from 3:00-7:00 pm on Monday, May 8, 2017, as well as 10:00-10:45 am on Tuesday, May 9, 2017. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at 11:00 am at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 115 Madison St, Sauk City, WI. Interment will be held at St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Don's nurse Kevin Klingenmeyer of Agrace Hospice Care and his special caregivers: Tami Stieve, Darla Quinn, Brittany Costerisan, Tatum Bonham, and Cheri Peach who were there every step of the way making Don comfortable. You'll be in our hearts forever Pops.
