Donna Rae (Lyon) Bass of Prairie Du Sac passed away on Sept. 22nd, 2016 at Maplewood – Sauk City, under the care of Agrace Hospice.
Donna was born in Omaha, Nebraska on Aug. 22nd, 1934 daughter of Howard and Evelyn (Reineccius - Altschuler) Lyon. In 1940 her family moved to Wisconsin. She graduated from Fennimore High School in 1952. Donna married Robert Bass on September 7th, 1952. They spent some time in Fennimore & Richland Center before moving to Mazomanie in 1958. Donna worked for Grabers from 1963-1979 and then for the UW Physical plant from 1979 to 1994 when she retired. After retirement she worked part time in the bakery of Mazo Market for a few years. On Saturday nights her and Bob loved to dance. They would get all dressed up and head out to see Gene Kezer's band. Donna was a wonderful caregiver to her family making countless milkshakes when needed, baking the best cookies & made sure dinner was on the table every night at 6:00. Didn't matter who you brought with you but you had better be home to eat. She was the pillar of our family and took very good care of her husband Bob. She was always there to lend an ear or spread the word whether or not you needed her to. She loved watching birds & squirrels at the feeders and loved her kitties.
Donna is survived by her husband Robert Bass "Buzz"; her two sons, Richard Bass (Lani Rochon) and Michael (Dee) Bass of Mazomanie; 5 grandchildren, Melissa (Matt) Wheeler, Evelyn Gust, Amy (Josh) Andreas, Jacob (Faith Greene) Bass, & Terrance (Kara) Bass; 8 great grandchildren, Oceona, Brianna, Dominik, John, Abigail, Willow, & Emmaline; brother and sister in-laws, Jack (Charleene) Bass of California and Jannie (Dick) Adams of Dickyville, Wi., as well as many distant relatives and many friends.
Donna is preceded in death by her parents and a daughter Kathleen Roys .
A memorial service is planned for 12:00 pm on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Hooverson Funeral Home, Hwy. 14 West, Mazomanie. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of the service. A luncheon will immediately follow the service.
