Obituary

Donovan H. Niederklopfer "Shorty", age 85 passed away on Wednesday July 19, at home. He was born on April 20, 1932 in Sauk City, WI, the son of Herman and Anna (Aliesch) Niederklopfer.

Don attended school in Sauk City. He was employed and retired from Wisconsin Dairies after 46 years of service. Don was united in marriage to Thelma Pauley on July 21, 1951. Together they raised 7 children. Don enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, whether that be hunting, fishing or riding his bike. He liked spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. You could also find him pulling the one-arm bandit at Ho-Chunk.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Thelma Niederklopfer; six children, Donna (Curt) Barton, Joseph (Betty), Richard, Michael (Robin), Rita (Bruce) Crary and Stanley (Chauntel); 17 grandchildren, Brenda, Tina, Jason, Tim, Andrea, Mary, Chris, Kathy, Nick, BJ, Alisha, Caitlin, Justin, Jason, Louis, Nick, Christopher and 21 great-grandchildren. Sister, Joanne Kufner. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers; Walter, Norman and Arnold; two sisters; Marie and Helen; infant daughter, Mary and son Arnold; and grandson, Adam.

A memorial service will be held at First United Church of Christ, 504 Washington Ave, Sauk City on Tuesday July 25, 2017 at 11am with Pastor Bill Kapp officiating. A visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Steven Johnson, Dr. Nathan Grunewald and the kind, compassionate staff of Home Health United-Hospice.
