Obituary

Dorothy Jeanne 'Toots' Saladis was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She left this world suddenly on December 5, 2022, at the age of 76.

She was born to Harold and Dorothy (Saline) Lee on September 5, 1946, in Superior, Wisconsin. After attending Central High School, she was united in marriage to Dennis Saladis on September 28, 1963.

Toots was a stay-at-home mom who loved to sew and bake. The days without homemade after school treats were few and her giving and generous nature made sure there was always plenty for neighborhood friends. Despite her dislike of early childhood rides with her dad listening to baseball games, later in life, Toots enjoyed the game and loved it when the brewers scored 'touchdowns'. She even evolved to appreciate the flag vs hankey lingo when watching the Packers. Toots especially loved spending time with family and friends, playing cards and laughing, a distinct laugh for which she'll always be remembered. She had an amazingly positive disposition even during her toughest hours. And above all she loved her family, the times they spent all together and faithfully called her grandchildren on their special day each month.

As her children grew older, and to fulfill her love of being around people, Dorothy worked at various businesses in administrative roles; GE Lunar, Wipfli, TDS and Giegerich's print shop. She also enjoyed her time working at both Ace Hardware and Hartmann's Floral shop using her talent with floral arranging.

She will be missed by her devoted husband, Dennis and her four children, Tony Saladis, Tim (Sharon) Saladis, Jerry (Rachel) Saladis and Deb (Phil) Ames. She leaves behind eight amazing grandchildren: Katie (Brett) Daggett, Dalton (Baylee Shifflet) Saladis, Carson Saladis, Ally Saladis, Jordan (Julie) Saladis, Justin Saladis, Jerod (Becca True) Saladis and Kieler Ames and one very special great-grandchild Adalyn 'Addie' Daggett. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Marlene Lee and Es Lee and countless nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her four brothers, Harold Jr 'Junior', Robert 'Bob', David 'Dub', James 'Jim' and baby sister, Mary. We know she is reconnecting with them and imagine her sharing M&M's with her brother Bob and playing cards but only after hugging her Mother tight.

A gathering of remembrance and celebration will be held on Saturday, December 17 at Hooverson Funeral Home in Sauk City from 1 to 4pm.

A Mother holds her children's hands for a little while, their hearts forever!
