Obituary

Dorothy Elda Kahl, age 88, passed away peacefully at Sauk Prairie HealthCare Center on Monday, February 2, 2015 as a result of a stroke at her home. She was born May 7, 1926 to the late Albert and Alma (Schmale) Binger. She graduated from Middleton High School High School in 1944. Dorothy married Clifford Kahl on Sept., 28, 1944; he preceded her in death on February 27, 2007. Dorothy and Clifford had farmed in rural Mazomanie since 1949, where Dorothy currently resided. She enjoyed working with flowers, loved music and frequently sang at the nursing home, she was an active member of the New Heights Lutheran Church, enjoyed traveling the countryside and trips to the Fireside, trips to the Great Wall of China and New Zealand were especially memorable, playing Euchre, she looked forward to family gatherings and visiting with friends, and enjoyed being the letter writer extraordinaire.
She is survived by her three daughters; Kathy (Tim) Olson of Verona, Sue (Tom Campbell) Kahl of Black Earth, and Cindy (Doug) Rickey of Middleton; 11 grandchildren, Brenda (Pat) True, Maria (Scott) DeLaruelle, Christina (Jamie) McCartney, Jon (Stacy) Brunner, Shane (Christina) Kahl, Troy (Kelli) Kahl, Brooke Olson, Kyle (Erika) Olson, Crystal (Charlie Thurow) Olson, Michael and Megan Rickey; 19 great grandchildren, Emma, Kali, Jessi, Clay, Ryan, Rebecca, Jack, Hannah, Aaron, Evan, Joe, Jenna, Kiera, Ella, Troy Jr., Mariah, Carter, Kellen, and Ariana; 3 siblings, Alvira McNulty, Alice Simon, LeRoy (Fern) Binger; she is further survived by other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her parents and husband Clifford, she was preceded in death by an infant son Jerry and Jerry's twin brother, Gary (Teri) Kahl, a grandson Justin Kahl, 2 brother in-laws, George McNulty and Stan Simon.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at New Heights Lutheran Church, 1705 Center Street, Black Earth. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 6, at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Hwy 14 West, Mazomanie from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be held at the Middleton Junction Cemetery following a luncheon at the church.
