Douglas Allen Steuber, "Skeeter" passed on July 8th, 2016 at University Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born the oldest child on June 20, 1942 to Ralph and Doris Steuber. The close family grew with the birth of Kleo (Ted) Harris and Terry (Cindy) Steuber. He grew up on the family farm, riding his pony to a one room schoolhouse and then graduating from Prairie du Sac High School.
Many of his earlier interests included bowling, playing cards, and cribbage. He spent most of his life continuing the family tradition of collecting maple sap. More recently, he spent his energy on gardening, grilling and participating in various sport picks/pools. He spent many hours chauffeuring, attending activities and bragging about his grandchildren. His love for Fords, friends and family runs deep.
He married his lifelong supporter and "forever love" Sherri, on Halloween in 1970. Together they raised 3 children, of whom they are very proud: Shane (Tammy) Steuber, Shelly (Dave) Gulden and Sindee (Jason) Granger. The family continues to be very close in love and geography, all living within 1 mile of where he grew up and where they raised their children. He is a proud grandfather to the people that he loves the most: Brandon, Mara, Joe, Keagan, Macee, Kloee and Natilee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws: Don and Helen Dederich and brother in-law Ted (Kleo) Harris. He is survived by his immediate family and many close friends.
Please join us to celebrate his life on Saturday, July 16th with a visitation from 9:00 am until 11:30 am with a service to follow at the First United Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Church of Christ, 504 Washington Ave. Sauk City.
