IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Duane Virgil
Wipperfurth
April 17, 1962 – January 1, 2025
Duane Virgil Wipperfurth (age 62)--loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend–passed away peacefully at home on January 1, 2025, after a hard-fought battle with Liposarcoma cancer. Duane was born on April 17, 1962, to the late Raymond and Shirley (Kippley) Wipperfurth. He graduated from Sauk Prairie High School, Class of 1981.
Duane worked most of his adult life in the food and grocery industry beginning in high school at the local Burnstad's. Duane took a job with Schwan's/Tony's Pizza corporation where he quickly was promoted and moved to Seattle, Washington, to work in marketing in the Pacific Northwest region for six years. He then married his high school crush, Lynn Breunig, on June 13, 1992, and after a few years, they moved home to Wisconsin to raise their two daughters, Miranda and Amber. While living in Roxbury and later on Lake Wisconsin, Duane managed the Piggly Wiggly in Waunakee for 10 years and finished his career as owner of the Piggly Wiggly in Pardeeville for another 10 years. Duane retired in December 2020.
Everyone that knew Duane knew his love for the outdoors. He found happiness and peace in the woods hunting, on the lake fishing, and in his truck camper adventuring with Lynn. Duane had many beloved friends, whom he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing sheepshead with. Duane loved to take others along fishing, although he was reluctant to share his secret fishing spots.
Duane was an example of hard work, determination, and strength; he knew how to have a good time and enjoy life. Duane had a way of lighting up every room with his smile and sense of humor, and he was someone everyone loved being around. More than anything, he enjoyed spending time with his family, whether it be piloting his family to the sandbars on their pontoon or taking them to Ho Chunk Casino to hit up his favorite lucky machines. He always made sure to take care of his family; he was his two daughters' biggest supporter. His shining light over the last six months has been becoming grandpa to baby Weston, whom he loved dearly.
Duane is survived by his wife, Lynn; his children, Miranda (Bryan) Wipperfurth-Roy and Amber (Josh) Ernisse and their son, Weston; siblings, Jeff Wipperfurth, George (Connie) Wipperfurth, Richard (Sue) Wipperfurth, and Keith Wipperfurth; his in-laws, Allan and Florentine Breunig, and sisters- and brothers-in-law, Donna (Ed) Hellenbrand, Lucy (Ron) Huerth, Al (Lori) Breunig, and Dana (Mike) Larson. Duane is further survived by countless other relatives and friends.
Duane is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
As per Duane's wishes, a Celebration of Duane's Life will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 12:00 noon until 4:00 pm at the Dorf Haus, 8931 Cty Hwy Y, Roxbury.
Duane's family would like to express appreciation to everyone who has helped lift Duane's spirits over his cancer journey. Your thoughts and prayers have been very appreciated. Duane was an amazing man who will be missed immensely, but never forgotten.
