Dudley Hughes Pence, age 75, passed away at home on Friday, March 25, 2016 after an extended illness. He was born on April 21, 1940 in Columbiaville, MI to the late William and Amanda (Moore) Pence. He served in the United States Marine Corps, the Navy See Bees, and retired from the Army National Guard. Dudley married LaVerda Cairns on July 21, 1978. He was a member of the Madison Sheet Metal Workers Union for over 30 years. Dudley cheered on the Cleveland Browns and Green Bay Packers, and also enjoyed watching Westerns and doing crosswords.
He is survived by his wife, LaVerda; four children, Theresa Grueneberg, Tim (Bonnie) Pence, Rebecca (Jim) Dixius and John Johnson; 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; three siblings, Doris Griffith, Genevieve Tyson and Eldred Pence; other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 6 siblings.
A Memorial Service will be held at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, 251 Water St., Sauk City, at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 28, 2016, with a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m.
