Obituary

Edna Marie Hart, age 85, passed away surrounded by her family in the comfort of her own home on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023.  She was born in Prairie du Sac on Nov. 23, 1938, to the late Edgar G. and Hazel (Warne) Walch Sr.  She graduated from Prairie du Sac High School and went on to graduate from Madison Business College in 1958.  Edna worked for Van Loenen's Men's Wear in Prairie du Sac for 25 years before going to work at Rural Mutual Insurance and then retired from Credit Union National Association.  She really enjoyed working at CUNA and developed many lifelong friends.  Edna threw horseshoes on the Wednesday Night Women's League, bowled on the Women's Classic Bowling League for many years, played softball but her true passion was playing cards.

Edna was united in marriage to Alvin "Al" N. Ballweg on May 21,1993; he preceded her in death on Sept. 27, 1995.  She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Lion's Club International, Royal Neighbors of America and active member of St. Aloysius Church serving on the Council of Catholic Women.  In retirement, Edna spent many hours volunteering at St. Clare Hospital and Sauk Prairie Healthcare.  She enjoyed road trips with her daughters and granddaughter; if the car was running, Edna was in the passenger seat, ready to go.  She valued her time with family and friends and was able to visit places all over the world that were on her bucket list, making new friends and memories wherever she went.

Edna is survived by her children, Joan (Randy) Baier and their family, Lucas (Alicia) and Ciara Baier; Ron's sons, Will (Hailey) Hart and their children, Parker and Violette and his youngest son, Taylor (Kennedy) Hart; Joyce (Randy) Frey;  and son, Don (Jill) Hart and their two boys, Gabe and Evan; Edna is further survived by many special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by husband, Al Ballweg; son, Ron Hart, daughter, Barbara Hart; siblings, Edgar "Jr." Walch, Duane (Pat) Walch, Dick (Mary) Walch, Mercedes "Sadie" (Bob) Priebe, Marilyn (Herb) Schaefer, Mildred "Mickey" Baumgartner.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 115 Madison St., Sauk City.  A visitation will be held the morning of mass from 9:00 am until 10:45 am at the Hooverson Funeral Home, 251 Water St., Sauk City.  Interment will follow in the St. Aloysius Cemetery, Sauk City.

Joan, Joyce and Don would like to express their sincere gratitude to the many family and friends for their thoughtfulness and support you gave to our Mom during her illness and at the time of her passing. A special thanks to Mary Dodd, Darlene Kirch and Judy Zeman and the "Edna group", her law enforcement friends, Dr. Trevver Buss and his nurse Kelly, Tina SSM Hospice Nurse for their comforting care and for the love you showed our mom. To Kathy and Nancy Walch for staying with mom so her Christmas wish could come true, you have a special place in our Harts!
