Obituary

Edsel John Steuber, age 89, of rural Prairie du Sac passed away on Friday, December 21, 2012 at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie. He was born on August 11, 1923 in the town of Prairie du Sac, to Louis and Minnie (Creasey) Steuber. Edsel was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served his country during World War II. On August 5, 1955, he was united in marriage to Caroline Accola in the Zion Reformed Church of rural Prairie du Sac. After marriage, he continued to farm and haul milk for many years. He was a member of the First United Church of Christ, Sauk City, and the American Legion Post #167. Edsel was a Ford man and enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and reading. He lived on the same farm all his life.


Survivors include his wife, Caroline; his children, John and Leanna Steuber of Billings, MT and Joan and Tom Kaul of Baraboo; a sister, Shirley Moely; sisters-in-law, Doris Steuber, Sharal Steuber, Evelyn Accola and VaLera Accola; and many nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; Ralph and Theron; brothers-in-law; Merton Moely, Roy Accola and Lloyd Accola; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Accola.


Funeral services will be held at the FIRST UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, Sauk City, at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 28, 2012. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Zion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to First United Church of Christ, the Ruth Culver Community Library, or to the donors choice.
