Edward "Bud" E. Campbell, age 79, of Sauk City died peacefully on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at Gunderson Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, surrounded by his loved ones. His heart gave way doing what he loved, golfing. Bud was born November 11, 1928 in Waukegan, IL to the late Ernest and Elizabeth Campbell. He attended Ithaca High School and finished his education in the Army. Bud was a WWII veteran, having served in the 82nd Airborne as a paratrooper stationed in Italy. He was united in marriage to Bernice E. Thompson on August 25, 1952 at her parent's home. The marriage was blessed with 5 children. Bud worked as an auto mechanic at Deutman Ford in Sauk City for 18 years, Consumers Cooperative Auto Center for 10 years and retired from Ballweg Chevrolet in 1991 at the age of 63. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, crossword puzzles, and was an avid reader. He is a member of Lachmund-Cramer VFW post 7694. Bud will be remembered as a man who was always willing to help others. He is survived by his wife, Bernice of Sauk City; children, Jeff Campbell, Lisbeth (Dan) Gibney, Timothy Campbell and Susan (Leslie) Dorscheid; four grandchildren, Jessica and Danielle Gibney, and Kyle and Andrew Dorscheid; three sisters, Betty Paul, Bernice King, and Lilly (Dick) Lamers; other relatives and many friends. In addition ot this parents, Bud was preceded in death by a son Kenneth and brothers in-law Orville King and Elmer Paul. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 23 at 1pm at the Sauk City Cemetery. The Lachmund-Cramer VFW Post 7694 will conduct Military Rites. Family and friends are invited to the home following the service unitl 5pm.
