The family moved to North Freedom where they farmed. Ed later worked off the family farm, helping other local farmers in the Baraboo and Sauk Prairie areas. He has always had a love for agriculture. After their retirement Ed and Marlene enjoyed their winter months in Yuma, Arizona and Gulf Shores, Alabama.
Ed and Marlene enjoyed their many travels especially with their grandchildren when they were eight years old. This tradition has carried over to the next generation. They met many life long friends from their travels. His greatest pride and joy was his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed watching them show their animals at the county fairs and attending sporting events. Later in life he picked up the hobby of  putting puzzles together which he framed and gave to the family, which will be a great remembranc e of his presence.
