Edwin A. Roth, age 97, of Sauk City, passed away peacefully at home on July 22, 2026. He was born July 9, 1929, to Alois and Helena (Seiler) Roth. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1954 and is a Korean War veteran and member of the American Legion. He worked as a heavy machine operator at Northwestern Construction and was a lifelong member of Operating Engineers Local 139. He also farmed the family farm in Sauk City.
Ed married Donna Mae (Barbian) on November 28, 1957, and adopted their children Tom and Judy. Later in life he could be found on his sofa watching westerns and doing word search puzzles, picking out hickory nuts at the kitchen table, and reading.
Survivors include children Tom (Diane) Roth of Sauk City and Judy Foss of Sauk City; grandchildren Nicole (Trey) Sihota of Fresno, California, Rachel (Austin) Knight Bernards of Sauk City, and Brandon Roth of New York City; great grandson Declan Knight Bernards; and his sister Anna (Edmund) Statz of Sauk City.
Edwin was preceded in death by his loving wife Donna, his parents Alois and Helena, brothers Alois (Phyllis), John, Matthew (Antoinette), Norbert (Deanna), Werner (Mildred), Anthony, Ervin (Lovina), Elmer (Nancy), Florian, and Gerald (Scherrie); and a sister Mary (Victor) Breunig.
A visitation will be held at Hooverson Funeral Home, Sauk City, on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
