Elaine Margaret (Marx) Breunig, age 94, passed away peacefully at the Pines Assisted Living on February 4, 2025. She was born on December 4, 1930, to George J. Marx and Theresa Weber.  She was born in Madison and moved to Sauk City after her father passed away.  She married Roman C Breunig on September 12, 1950. They had 3 children, Karen, Russell G. and Barbara.  She attended Sauk City High School.  She was a stay-at-home mom taking in ironing and typing manuscripts for August Derleth on the old fashion typewriter.

Later she went to work at the Sauk Prairie High School in the kitchen, waitressing at the Flamingo, Fire House and the Country Club. She volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul for many years.  She and Roman enjoyed many vacations and bus trips.  They played cards with many friends over the years.  Elaine looked forward to the various card clubs. She loved her pets and particularly her little white dog, Madde.

She is survived by her 3 children, Karen Christiansen, Russell G. (Kathie) Breunig, Barbara Breunig (Ron Phillips), two grandchildren Benjamin Breunig (Rachel) and Brandon Breunig (Heather) and three great grandchildren Anessa, Braylin and Amelia.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, her parents, brothers George Marx Jr. and Stanley Marx and other family members and friends.

Elaine will be remembered for her zest for life, kindness and always ready with a sense of humor and adventure and will be missed by many.
