Eleanore Susan Fassbender, age 89, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Roxbury on Friday, May 27, 2022.  She was born at home in the Town of Westport on Aug. 16, 1932 to the late Louis and Helen (Becker) Endres.  She graduated from Waunakee High School in 1950.  Eleanore was united in marriage to Richard Fassbender at St. John's Catholic Church, Waunakee on Apr. 14, 1952; recently celebrating 70 years together.  Together, they farmed in Middleton before settling in the Town of Berry where they farmed for many years until they moved to Roxbury.  Eleanore enjoyed flowers and gardening, and was an avid reader. She was an excellent cook and baker, and had an artistic talent in sewing, drawing, painting, and beautiful calligraphy work.  She was a member of the St. Norbert's Catholic Church choir for many years. Of most importance was Eleanore's family; she loved family gatherings and visits from her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Eleanore is survived by her husband, Richard; children, Susan Walsh, Mona Gehrke, Rick (Annette) Fassbender, Connie Kind, Paul Fassbender, Peg Eaton, and Sarah Mamerow; 13 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; and sister, Shirley (Vic) Hellenbrand.  She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by two children, Ann and Joe; son in-law, Dave Gehrke and daughter in-law, Dawn Fassbender; and five sisters, Helen, Margaret, Catherine, Loretta, and Sally; four brothers, Albert, Harold, Vincent and Tom.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 2nd, from 9:00 am until 10:45 at the Hooverson Funeral Home, 251 Water St., Sauk City, and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am at St. Norbert's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
