Elizabeth Lucille (Betty) Brouwer found eternal rest on December 14, 2011. Betty was born in Pipestone County, MN, on February 5, 1927, to Louis and Henrietta (Kots) Halbersma. She attended Northwestern Bible Institute in Minneapolis, MN. On May 9, 1952 she was united in marriage to Albert Brouwer. Al and Betty lived in Minneapolis for several years until they returned to southwestern Minnesota to farm. In 1971 they moved to Plover, WI, where they lived until retiring in Hendersonville, NC. Al and Betty relocated to Prairie du Sac in 2007.


Family and faith were the most important items in Betty's life. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, attending concerts, and being active in her church. In addition, she enjoyed sewing, crocheting and gardening.


She is survived by her husband, Albert; a son, Curt (Becky) Brouwer of Woodway, WA; two daughters, Robin (Ken) Meier of North Freedom and Corine Brouwer of Pfafftown, NC; four grandchildren, Marcus (Diana) Meier of Madison, Kimberly Meier of Prairie du Sac, and Daniel and Alex Brouwer of Woodway, WA; a sister, Bernice (Jasper) Brouwer of DeMotte, IN; a brother, Raymond (Rena) Halbersma of Browerville, MN; and many other relatives and friends.


In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Lawrence; four sisters, Alice Schroeder, Ester VanTol, Ruby Jagt, and Elaine Halbersma; and several nieces and nephews.


A funeral service will be held at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Sauk City, at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 19, 2011, with Pastor Bill Kapp officiating. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service. Private family burial will be on Tuesday, in Honey Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established.
