Elizabeth M. "Betty" O'Connor, age 88, died on Friday, October 21, 2011 at Oak Park Place in Middleton. She was born in Plain on March 3, 1923, the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Haas) Young. She was united in marriage to Donald L. O'Connor on December 28, 1950 in Sauk City. He preceded her in death in 1997. Betty was employed by Wisconsin Life Insurance Company for many years. She enjoyed RV camping, sewing, cooking, and traveling, of which her highlight was a trip to Ireland. She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church.
She is survived by four sons, Deno (Susan) of Midland, Michigan, Donald (Mary) of Waunakee, Patrick (Cindy) of Stoughton and Kevin (Fran) of Jacksonville, Florida; a daughter-in-law, Lori of Manitowoc; 9 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; five siblings, Catherine (Jack) Curran, Mary Tourdot, Rose (Ed) Breunig, Joan Bachhuber and Francis (Barb) Young; other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, John; and nine siblings, Margaret, John Norman, Herman, William, Joseph, Walter, John Jr. and Louis Young, and Matilda Eith.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. ALOYSIUS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 115 Madison St., Sauk City, at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 with Fr. Jared Hood officiating. Burial will be in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery in Union Grove. A visitation will be held at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, 251 Water St., Sauk City from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 24, 2011.
