Obituary

Elizabeth Jane "Betty" Pailing, age 92, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at St. Mary's Care Center in Madison.  She was born in Arena on August  21, 1921, the daughter of the late Frank and Burnadetta (White) Sheehan.  She graduated from Arena High School in 1939, later attended Platteville Teachers College, graduating in 1943, and taught in a rural one-room school.  She was united in marriage to Donald Pailing on June 27, 1946.  He preceded her in death on June 20, 1958.  After Don's death, she worked for Mazomanie Head Start school program, and later at Wisconsin Life Insurance Company, retiring in 1985.  She was an active lifelong member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church.  Betty enjoyed gardening, baking, socializing with her church friends and spending time with her family.  She was an avid walker and instrumental in organizing an indoor walking group at the Mazomanie Community Building.
She is survived by her children, Barb (Lyndon) Lawler, Dick Pailing, Bob (Kim Lamoreaux) Pailing and Bill (Julie) Pailing; 11 grandchildren, Verne, Brad (Robyn) and Tim (Nicki) Lawler, Carolynn (Jeff) Conboy,  Dan (Kelly), Debi and David Hemmer, Christopher and Michael Kearney, Dustin (Carmen) and Mara Pailing; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Kathleen (Paul) Kaderabek and Peggy Reynolds; 4 sisters-in-law, Mary Sheehan, June Sheehan, Pat Pailing and Pat Jennings; a brother-in-law, Jim Pailing; many other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Katherine Kearney; a son, Tim Pailing; a sister, Mary Digney; and five brothers, Francis, Curt, Harland "Barney", Norman and Bob Sheehan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BARNABAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, Mazomanie, at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 with Fr. Osvaldo Briones officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Barnabas Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, 702 Emily Rd., Mazomanie, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 5, 2014, where a Rosary Service will be held at 3:30 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Betty's name.
