Elizabeth "Betty" Skidmore was born on November 1, 1947, in Madison, WI to Alfred F Hornung and Louise A (Dorn) Hornung and passed away on October 11, 2025.

She is survived by her 3 children; Amy (Jerry Herrling), Michael R Matz, and Gary D Matz; 1 grandchild, Preston Herrling (Abigail Whitish); 2 step grandchildren, Dylan Herrling and Christopher Herrling; 4 step great grandchildren, Jameson, Jaylen, Jennifer and Jordan Herrling; and 10 siblings, Ken (Elaine) Hornung, Arlene (Gary) Teske, Marian (Jim) Dohm, Joyce (Bob) Dumke, Diane (Rich) McCollough, Dorothy (Bill) Bloedow, Len (Paula) Hornung, Dennis Hornung, Al (Colleen) Hornung, and Maureen Fagan; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Alfred F Hornung and Louise A (Dorn) Hornung.

Betty graduated from Sauk Prairie High School in 1965 and attended night school at Madison Area Technical College to get an associate's degree in accounting from August 1981 to January 1988. She worked for the Wisconsin Heights School District Business Office as an accountant and the director of business services from July 1977 to March 2000. She then worked for Middleton Cross Plains School District Business Office as an accountant from March 2000 to November 2015.

Betty was a member of the St John's Lutheran Church that became New Heights Lutheran Church as the St John's President of Women's Organization, member of the church council, and as the church treasurer and was a member of the Wisconsin Heights Optimist Club. Betty's greatest joys in life were her family. Her kids meant more to her than anything. In her free time, she enjoyed reading and gardening.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, October 24th, 2025, at The Grove in Mazomanie, WI. The visitation will be from 9:30 – 11:00 am. A luncheon will immediately follow the service.
