Ellen Louise Wartzok, age 90, passed away March 21, 2025, while living with her daughter PeggyJo & James of Oxford Wisconsin. Ellen was born on July 30, 1934, in Baraboo Wisconsin daughter of the late Dean P. and Caryl (Colby) Caflisch.
Ellen was raised in Sauk City, Wisconsin and graduated from Sauk City High School in 1952. Ellen met Ivan Wartzok on June 1,1955 they were engaged on August 6, 1955.
Ellen L. Caflisch and Ivan W. Wartzok were married on April 7, 1956. They were married for 65 years.
Ellen went to Beautician school in Milwaukee Wisconsin, she worked 15 years as a Beautician at Maplewood Nursing home in Sauk City, Wisconsin.
Ellen enjoyed raising her five Children and taught them to respect their elders.
She enjoyed playing euchre, shooting pool with the girls. She loved flower gardening, watching the birds, car rides looking for deer and finding the white ones, taking in the fall colors and sitting by the river and watching it flow by. She loved to travel, she visited California, Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, Alaska, Colorado, Door County.
But her favorite place was Stoddard, Wisconsin, she called this her happy place along the Mississippi River. Ellen and Ivy lived there for a time also. When the children were young, they loaded the old Buick up with five kids two cats two dogs for the summer. We all know it as the SHACK out house and all.
Ellen was preceded in death by husband, Ivan W. Wartzok and granddaughter, Christina Weinke. Her two brothers, David and Jon Caflisch and her parents.
Ellen is survived by her sister, Deanna (Frank) Haselwander and two sisters in law, Kathy Caflisch and Sue Kleist; her children, Melody Walsh (Randy), Julie Wartzok, Sandra (Jeffrey) Weinke, Oscar Wartzok (Betsy) and Peggy Jo (James) Brown; grandchildren, Jason Kippley (Kelly), Joshua Wartzok (Anca), Andrew Grossmann, Amanda Jo (Shawn) Kotecki, Melissa Wartzok, Bradley Wartzok (Sierra), Whitney Ballweg (Joel), Daniel (Brittany) Walsh Melissa (John) Pohlmann, Joshua (Taylor) Brown, Ella (Jerod) Meyer, Robert Weinke ( Ali).
great grandchildren, Laura, PJ, Ian, Lyla, Damion, Ayla, Dylan (Sydni), Aleksa (Dillon), Coltyn, Jakob, Sophie, Jaxon, Finley, Brayden, Owen, Everleigh, Maverick, Clara Ivy, Cooper, Sutton and Kayson; great-great granddaughter, Adalaide and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Graveside Service will be at 10:30 am on April 5th, 2025. at Cassell Cemetery, Sauk County, Wisconsin.
Celebration of Life will be held at Culver's Community Park, 340 21st Street, Prairie du Sac, WI 53578 from 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm, Saturday, April 5, 2025, Family & Friends, food & drinks, stories, laughter and memories.
