Erna E. Bartnick, age 97, died on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie. She was born in Black Hawk on March 4, 1913, the daughter of the late Ervin and Emma (Repka) Schaefer. She was united in marriage to Oscar Bartnick on August 10, 1932.


She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Bartnick and Beverly Kurtz; 2 grandsons, Howard and Michael (Belinda) Kurtz; 3 great-grandchildren, Matthew, Lydia and Emma; two brothers, Harley Schaefer and Maurice (Cleo) Schaefer; a sister, Lynette Diehl; a sister-in-law, Elaine Schaefer; other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Ervin and Stanley Schaefer; and two sisters, Laura Wartzok and twin sister, Verna Diehl.

A private graveside service will be held at Black Hawk Cemetery.
