Ernest "Ernie" J. Wittwer, age 94, died August 16, 2015 at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie. He was born on September 5, 1920 in Liverpool, England, the son of Ernest and Alice (Jennings) Wittwer. Ernie was a US Veteran having served in the Army during WW II and was a lifetime member of the Sauk Prairie Lachmund Cramer VFW Post 7694. He was united in marriage to Loraine Hochstein on June 9, 1948 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Lodi. Ernie retired from Wisconsin Dairies after 27 years as a welder.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Loraine; 3 children, Ann (Bruce) Firlus, John (Kathryn) and David (Debbie);
7 Grandchildren, Le (Minh) Tran, Lisa (Alex) Nichols, Beth Firlus, Adria (Sean) Corcoran, Eric Wittwer, Kyle Wittwer, and Dana (Jordan) Schaller.
3 great grandchildren, Kimberly and Samantha Tran, Felicity Corcoran; sisters in law, Alice Wittwer,Elaine Wittwer, Catherine Hochstein and Mary Prem;
1 brother in law, Edward Prem.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Warren, Clifford and Frank.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Sauk City, with Father John Blewett officiating. Burial will follow in St. Norbert's Cemetery, Roxbury. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at Hooverson Funeral Home, Sauk City, WI. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the church.
