On May 9th, 2025, Ethan Mitchell Balch, age 18, of Sauk City, passed away after suffering a severe asthma attack at University Hospital in Madison. Ethan Balch was born on April 3rd, 2007 to Alex and Amanda (Hanson) Balch. During his education, he attended Sauk Prairie Schools.

Ethan loved playing Pokémon Go and video games with his siblings and mom, those were some of Ethan's favorite things to do. It was always a joke in his life that everyone he knew they were ugly to him that is how he showed his love. Waterparks, go carts, and vacations were some of Ethan's favorite summer activities, and he enjoyed making everyone laugh. Despite everyone's normality Ethan was unique in his own way. There was nothing else like Ethan's laugh and it made others laugh as well. The things Ethan enjoyed most in his life include wolves, dragons, music, and being creative. Ethan loved talking with Jessika, his girlfriend, and always helping his mom build stuff. Skateboarding with his brothers and going to the baraboo pool were some of his favorite things to do. Knives were also a passion of his. Even when he wasn't sure he could do something, Ethan always tried because he wanted to learn. From birth, Ethan has been a fighter and has fought hard until the end.

Family members left behind include his parents, Alex and Amanda (Hanson) Balch; siblings Rose (Andre) Matthys, Jake (Sierra) Siegler, and Travis Balch; paternal grandparents, Jeff and Julie Balch; maternal grandparents, Mick and Carrol Perkins. His aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews are among the many relatives and friends he leaves behind.

Ethan's visitation will be held at the Hooverson Funeral Home, 251 Water Street, Sauk City, on Monday, May 19, 2025 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. A funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Dan Gunderson at 11:00 am. There will be a lunch at the Sauk City Riverfront Park & Splash Pad across the street from the funeral home following the service
