Eugene L. Barber, age 82, died on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on February 12, 1927 in Bloomington, IL, the son of the late Ralph and Sidona (Suntken) Barber. Eugene was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Alexander on October 2, 1949 in Illinois. The couple moved to Wisconsin in February 1959 and began farming. Eugene was also employed in construction for many years. He was a member of Kuoni-Reuter American Legion Post 167 and Denzer United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; 5 children, Diana (John) Hutter, Donna (Steve) DeMars, Louis Barber, Marsha (Rodney) Key, and Stanley (Barbara) Barber; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; a sister, Jeanette Barber; other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Wayne Barber; a sister, Vera; and a brother, Don (Arlene) Barber.
Funeral services will be held at DENZER UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, Denzer, at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, January 12, 2010, with Pastor Dianne Vielhuber officiating. Burial will be in the Denzer Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Denzer United Methodist Church, or a charity of the donor's choice.
