Obituary

Eva Marie Kahl, age 88, passed away peacefully, on Saturday evening, October 4, 2014. She was born in Cross Plains on April 15, 1926, the daughter of Walter and Christine (Kessenich) Blankenheim. Fresh out of school, Eva worked for Research Products until she met a handsome young veteran, Lyle "Bud" Kahl. She was united in marriage to Bud on October 30, 1954.

The couple lived in Madison during most of their working years and moved to their Lake Wisconsin home in 1977. Eva was well known for her superb cooking, strong family roots, and fun-loving personality – especially when it came to beating her friends and family at every board and card game imaginable. When she wasn't running her household of five, Eva enjoyed golfing with friends, playing cards, talking smart and dining out at local restaurants. After retirement, Bud and Eva spent many winters in Florida, most recently, in Marco Island. While Eva enjoyed many activities in life, she loved nothing more than her family and the memories her loved ones brought her. Eva's family grew even larger through her four years at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie, where she touched residents and staff alike.

She is survived by three children, Patricia Kahl of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Joyce (Gary) Zeasman of Madison, and William (Karren) Kahl of Middleton; four grandchildren, Joshua and Whitney Kahl, and Nicole and Michelle Zeasman; and brother, John (Myrtle) Blankenheim. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle Kahl; sisters, Adeline (Thomas) Austin, Catherine (Lyonell) Williams, Ida (Roger) Schumacher, and Virginia Blankenheim; and brothers Robert, Henry (Ione), Darwin (Rosie), and Walter Blankenheim.

A visitation will be held at Hooverson Funeral Home, 251 Water St., Sauk City at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 10, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM. A luncheon will be held immediately following the service and burial. Memorials are preferred for Maplewood of Sauk Prairie or the charity of your choice.
