Evelyn Lillian Adams, age 98, passed away peacefully at Maplewood Nursing Home in Sauk City on Friday December 18, 2009. She was born in Milwaukee on September 7, 1911 to the late Fredrick and Nellie (Teigh) Janssen. Evelyn graduated from Sauk City High School and later attended Nursing School in Madison, but, left Nursing School to take care of her mother. She married Hollis Adams on June 7, 1931.
Evelyn worked at Badger Ordinance for several years before owning and operating the Adams Motel in Sauk City with her husband. She later worked at Central Colony in Madison and at Maplewood Nursing Home in Sauk City. Evelyn enjoyed crocheting afghans for her children and grandchildren, and loved to travel worldwide.
She is survived by a son, Douglas (Mary) Adams of Janesville, and a daughter, Denise (Brian) Bass of Sauk City; 7 grandchildren, Doug (Barb) Adams, Dennis (Kathleen) Adams, Dawn (Craig) O'Donnell, Mike (Lindsey) Draeger, Kimberly (Carl) Grinstead, Craig Bass, and Corey (Michelle) Bass; and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Janssen.
A memorial service will be held at Hooverson Funeral Home, Sauk City, at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 with Pastor Dennis Weis officiating. Friends may call from 11am until the time of service.
