Obituary

Evelyn Margaret Marklein, age 91, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2009 at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie. She was born in Denzer on December 2, 1917, the daughter of the late Edwin and Irma (Mellentine) Korb. Evelyn graduated from Prairie du Sac High School in 1935 and then attended one year of Teacher's College at Reedsburg Normal. She was united in marriage to Vincent Marklein on April 15, 1941. He preceded her in death in 1968. Evelyn was employed at several places in the Sauk Prairie area, which included the Tally Ho Restaurant, Riverview Ballroom, Badger Ordnance, and eventually retired from Graber Industries in Middleton. After retirement she stayed busy volunteering for many groups, including organizing Senior Meals and Bluffview Civic Club, and was also known as the "spinning wheel lady" at the Badger Steam and Gas Show. She is survived by five children, Lloyd (Janice) Marklein of Sauk City, Shirley (Jim) Kieffer of Baraboo, Alice Lybek of Dane, Judy (Ron) Lamberty of Delafield and Phyllis (Richard) Pauls of Richland Center; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Donald Marklein; a brother, Les "Pete" Korb; a special friend, Dick Baier; several aunts and uncles, the Mellentines. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. ALOYSIUS CATHOLIC CHURCH, Sauk City, at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2009 with Fr. Jared Hood officiating. Burial will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Friends may call at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Sauk City, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2009.
