Evert William Reeve, age 75, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at Heartland Country Village in Black Earth with his family by his side. He was born October 25, 1935 at his home on Reeve Rd. in Mazomanie to the late Vernon and Edna (Evert) Reeve. He married Lois Jordan on June 18, 1955 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Mazomanie, she preceded him in death on Jan 22, 2011. Evert and Lois farmed for many years, and after retiring from farming, Evert worked for Ideal Burial Vault for 20 years, all the while digging graves at the Mazomanie Cemetery and later working as a funeral assistant at Ellestad Funeral Home in Mt. Horeb. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing and working in his garden. Wood working was a passion of his, and his family reaped the rewards of his talent.

He is survived by four children, Evert Jr. (Linda) Reeve, Shirley (Gerry) Haack, Sandy (Alan) Witzel, and Barbara (Wes) Kezer;

grandchildren, Carey, Casey, Kendal, Amy, Sarah, Scott, Kim, Melissa, Vanessa, Samantha, Andrew, Mathew and Zach; 9 great-grandchildren;

A very special sister; Nancy (Gene) Brueggeman, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and wife Lois, he was preceded in death by an infant sister and brother.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 1, 2011 at 11:00am at New Heights (formerly St. John's) Lutheran Church, 105 East Hudson St., in Mazomanie, with Pastor Rob Nelson officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 pm until 7:00pm Sunday, July 31, 2011 at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Hwy 14 West, Mazomanie and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at the Mazomanie Cemetery. Evert's family would like to thank the staff at Heartland Country Village for the loving care they gave him.
