Florence D. Fruehling, age 81, died on Monday, June 29, 2009 at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie. She was born in Ft. Morgan, Colorado on February 13, 1928, the daughter of the late Carl and Doretta (Heidzig) Steffens. She was united in marriage to Eldor Fruehling on January 10, 1948. Florence was employed by Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1993. She was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where she was instrumental with the educational programs, and active in Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church. She is survived by her husband Eldor, of Prairie du Sac, four children, David (Sandra) of LaCrescent, MN, Daniel (Diane) of Onalaska, Ruth Ann of Middleton, Susan (Dennis) Johnson of LaCrosse, six grandchildren, Scott (Erika) Fruehling, Anne (Michael) Ehlers, Stefanie (Casey Stetzer) Wiese, Katherine Fruehling, Christine Fruehling, and Brian Wiese, five great-grandchildren; a sister, Mildred (Neil) DeJonge. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, two brothers, and a grandson. A memorial service will be held at ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 100 Oak St., Prairie du Sac, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2009 with Pastor Fred Rilling officiating. Friends may call at the church from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 and also on Thursday after 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
