Frances L. Giese, 88, died Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Maplewood of Sauk Prairie. She was born June 28, 1923 in Troy Township, the daughter of the late Walter and Dorothy (Heydon) Leykauf. She was united in marriage to Edward Giese on April 13, 1965. He preceded her in death on December 8, 2006.

Frances was employed as a waitress, cook, and nurse's aide prior to 1969. From 1969 - 1992 she was employed at Central Wisconsin Community Action. She enjoyed gardening, plants, flowers, reading and playing the organ. She especially enjoyed family get-togethers and holidays with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.


Survivors include two sons, Lloyd (Melvina) Meyer of Sauk City and
Duane Meyer of Madison; a daughter, Beverly (Larry) Koenig of Eau Claire; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Zona Dickerson of Sauk City and
Ramona (Robert) Laufenberg of Waunakee; a son-in-law, Ray Powers of Mazomanie; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; two daughters, Charlotte Schneider and Marlys Powers; three grandsons, Mark Powers, Bradley Koenig and Rodney Phillips; and two sisters,
June Fern Leykauf and Betty Haas.


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at First United Church of Christ, Sauk City with Pastor Bill Kapp officiating. Burial will be in the Sauk City Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Saturday one hour prior to service.
