Obituary

George Thomas Randolph, age 77, of rural Spring Green, passed away at home on Saturday, August 31st, 2024, after a lengthy and brave battle with heart disease. George was born on August 10th, 1947, to William and Lena (Kok) Randolph in Chicago, Illinois. After his graduation from Morgan Park High School in 1965, George enlisted in the U.S. Army. After his honorable discharge, he re-enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, working his way up to the rank of staff sergeant.

George worked various jobs throughout his lifetime, many in the lumber and manufacturing industries. His favorite occupation was as a customer service representative at Lands' End where he excelled in the gift of gab. In fact, his favorite time of the year was when he dyed his hair and beard white, playing Santa Claus at annual work events for the kids. He was also a dedicated member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Leland.

George was a passionate outdoorsman, enjoying swimming, backpacking, and hiking with his trusty walking stick. He was a loyal Bears fan that irritated his Packer Fan wife to no end! He was an avid reader and cherished a good tray of food at gatherings of family and friends.

On October 4th, 1985, he was united in marriage to Susan "Susie" Wilhelm at St. John's Lutheran Church – Leland, and they spent many wonderful years traveling and appreciating nature. George and Susie also enjoyed many memorable moments with their son William "Will" Randolph of Myers Flat, CA. George often visited him, traveling cross country by train.

He is survived by his wife of almost 39 years, Susan; his son, Will; Granddaughter, Autumn; a special friend Paul Gates; many friends, family and beloved dog Ginger Snap.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by two brothers – Alan and Edgar; and twin infant sons, Sean Paul and Jonathan George.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on September 14th at St. John's Lutheran Church – Leland with a visitation to be held prior to the service from 9-11am.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. John's Lutheran Church – Leland or to Sauk County Humane Society.
