Allen Reeve
February 16, 1952 – July 20, 2024
In Loving Memory of Gerald "Jigs" Reeve
Gerald Allen Reeve, age 72, passed away the morning of July 20, 2024, at UW Hospital. His entertaining and enduring spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Born on February 16, 1952, in Madison, Wisconsin. Jigs was the son of Ralph and Ruth Reeve. He spent the entirety of his life in Mazomanie, WI, growing up fishing the waters of Black Earth Creek and the Wisconsin River. Jigs graduated from Wisconsin Heights High School, where he was an accomplished wrestler, later competing at the collegiate level at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
Jigs had a passion for fishing and hunting, which brought him immense joy and allowed him to connect with friends and family over the years, especially his two sons, Chris, and Kyle. He was deeply involved in coaching wrestling at the middle school and youth levels, helping to develop young wrestlers at Wisconsin Heights throughout the years.
Those who were fortunate to know Jigs will remember him for his love of conversation and his talent for telling funny stories, even if the details weren't always consistent. Jigs was a beloved fan of Wisconsin sports. He leaves behind a legacy of love and happiness.
Gerald is survived by his son, Kyle (Natalie) Reeve, grandchildren, Sydney Reeve, Kendall Reeve, and Max Christopher Reeve; a brother, Dale and sister, Roxanne (Steve) Shain.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Ruth Reeve, and his son, Christopher Reeve.
A celebration of Jigs' life will be held on Thursday, August 1st from 4-7 pm at Grandma Mary's Cafe, 175 U.S. Hwy 14, Arena, WI. A memory sharing service will be held around 6 pm for those who wish to speak and share memories.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Hearts 4 Henry Foundation (www.hearts4henry.org/donate) in honor of his grandson Max Reeve.
