Gerald G. "Hardy" Wachter, age 75, passed away at his home in Arena, on Tuesday, June 4, 2013. He was born at home in Mazomanie on May 24, 1938 to the late Gerhardt and Lorraine (Upham) Wachter. Gerald graduated from Mazomanie High School, Class of 1956. He enlisted in the United States Army and was proud to have served his country. Gerald married Doris LeMae. She preceded him in death. He enjoyed playing baseball and watching the Milwaukee Brewers.

Gerald is survived by a two sons, Mark (Dawn) Wachter of Richland Center and Roger Wachter of Marshall; 6 step-children; 2 grandchildren, Alex and Eryn Wachter; a brother, James "Jim" Wachter; 2 sisters, Mary Wachter and Lillian Nesvacil; other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brothers, Frank and Robert Wachter; and sisters, Elizabeth Vaughn and Geraldine Anderson.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 7, 2013 at 12:30 pm at St. Barnabas Cemetery, Mazomanie, with Military Rites accorded by Greening-Buelow American Legion Post. A luncheon will follow at Grandma Mary's Cafe in Arena.
