Obituary

Gerald J. "Jerry" Exterovich, age 74, passed peacefully at home on Friday, April 20, 2012, in the care of his family, with the assistance of Home Health United Hospice, after an extended battle with cancer. Born in Racine on February 11, 1938, the son of the late Joseph and Sophie (Pietrancek) Exterovich, Jerry was extremely proud of his second generation immigrant heritage with Grandparents from both Poland and Russia.

An avid athlete, Jerry loved sports, pitching fast-pitch ball and fly-fishing in his early years, to bowling and golf in later years, winning many tournaments and trophies to prove the point. Jerry successfully tried his hand at many professions before establishing himself as a 25 year career agent with Farmers Insurance Group.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Mabbott Exterovich; sons, Jerry C. Exterovich (Amy Schoenoff) and Dr. Scott and Michelle (Habada) Breunig; grandchildren, Nikita, Alexandra, Kyra, Anastasia, Joe, Jacquelyn, Jasmine and Darrin; brothers, William (Susan) Exterovich and Joe L. Exterovich; sisters-in-law, Barbara (Tom) Sandeman and Mary Jo (Mark) Nichols; along with many nieces and nephews too numerous to mention but included in love; and his loyal companion, Shilo.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter-in-law Paige Breunig, and brother-in-law John D. Mabbott.

A Funeral Service will be held at ST. JOHN EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 100 Oak St., Prairie du Sac, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2012, with Pastors Fred Rilling and Sally Williams officiating. Burial will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Friends may call at HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, 251 Water St., Sauk City, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 and also at the church on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all involved in Jerry's care, in particular Dr. Noelle LeConte, Sandy Burns RN, Dr. Dusty Koch, Barb Berg RN, and everyone from Home Health United Hospice.
