Gerald "Jerry" Cyril Hornung, age 75, passed away at home unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 11, 2009, after a lengthy battle with heart problems. He was born May 1, 1933 at home in Roxbury to the late Oscar and Magdelena (Haas) Hornung. He was united in marriage to Joan Ganser on October 17, 1957. Jerry worked in construction and was an owner and operator of a farm until his retirement. He was an avid bowler, who bowled on a league most of his life. His pastimes included hunting, playing cards, cribbage, traveling and gambling trips. In addition he was an avid sports fan and loved the Packers and Badgers and Badger Women's Basketball and held season tickets for many years. He is survived by his wife, Joan; five children, Gene of Madison, Christine (Woody) Knox of McFarland, Patricia (David) Lodholz of St. Louis, MO, Marie (Tom Bauder) Hornung of Dallas, TX, and Jacqueline (Dan) MacShane of Lombard, IL; five grandchildren, Courtney and Madison Ludholz, Trevor Knox, and Fynn and Aeryn MacShane; a sister, Marie (Russell) Zeman; a brother, Herman Hornung; sister-in-law, Louise Hornung; other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Leo, Alfred, Brother Raphael, Gilbert, Paul, and infant Gilbert; and a sister, Rita. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Norbert's Catholic Church, Roxbury, at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 16, 2009 with Fr. Miguel Galvez officiating. Burial will follow in St. Norbert's Cemetery. Friends may call at Hooverson Funeral Home, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2009.
