Gladys (Mathewson) Kennedy, age 101, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Mathews Assisted Living in St. Francis, WI. She was born in the Mazomanie Township, August 22, 1912 to the late Clarence and Alice (Birch) Mathewson. She graduated from Mazomanie High School in 1929. Gladys was the proprietor of Gladys Alteration Shop on North Avenue in Milwaukee for 40 years.

She is survived by 2 sons, Richard Kennedy of Beloit, and Joseph (Dianne) Kennedy of Milwaukee; 5 grandchildren, Jeff (Sandy) Kennedy of Green Bay, Jackie (Bob) Walkowiak of Milwaukee, Carole (Marcus) Bartel of Milwaukee, Darren (Cherie) Kennedy of Lake Tomahawk, and Shannon Kennedy of Beloit; 9 great-grandchildren; three nieces, one nephew and her sister in-law, Alice Mathewson of Prairie du Sac.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Clarence "Buzz" Mathewson; 4 sisters, Mildred Tollefson, Edith Leppla, Clarice Fleharty and Maxine Cairns.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at 11:00 am at the United Church of Christ, Mazomanie. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Mazomanie Cemetery.
