Gladys A Mazerek, age 86, passed away at University Hospital, Madison on Apr. 30, 2025.  She was born Aug. 30, 1938, to the late Alfred and Eva (Grosklaus) Hanusa. She attended and graduated from Baraboo High School. Shortly after high school she was united in marriage to Alfred "Dean" Schell; he preceded her in death in 1967. She married Claude P. "Shorty" Mazerek on May 17, 1968; he preceded her in death July 15, 2009.

Gladys looked forward to holidays and loved to decorate for those special occasions. She liked old country music, westerns on tv, and wearing turquoise jewelry.  Gladys loved being a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and was always proud of her huge family and loved to have everyone together.

Gladys is survived by her children, Big Al (Judy) Schell, Chuck (Lori) Schell, LeRoy (Connie) Schell, Rose (Jim) Acre, Jeff (Kay) Schell, Kathy Carpenter, Linda (Matthew) Mazerek Slotty, Jake (Mark) Bohling, Angie Mazerek, Claude "Bomber" Mazerek, Todd Mazerek, Heidi Nehls; sister in-Law, Karen Hanusa, son in-law, Chad Cone; siblings, Marion Bindl, Cliff (Linda) Hanusa, Sandy (Andy) Haskings; she is further survived by 30+ grandchildren, 30+ great grandchildren, countless other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael Schell; nephew Troy Hanusa: nephew, Ivan Hanusa: daughter, Nancy Cone; grandson, Tyler Mazerek; granddaughter, Jami Acre; brother, Gene Hanusa; brother in-law, Fred Bindl; and son in-law, Randy Carpenter.

Gladys's family would like to express their sincerest gratitude and apperception to the staff and caregivers at Sauk Prairie Healthcare and the University Hospital.

A Celebration of Gladys's life will be held on Sunday, June 22, 2025 at the Slotty Farm, S8560 Slotty Rd. North Freedom, WI 53951 from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm, memories and reflections of Gladys's life will be shared at 1:00 pm.

To honor Gladys, it will be a festive theme. Please dress in your best holiday attire.
