Sister, aunt, friend, and educator, Miss Armstrong was born May 31, 1947 to Marjorie (Beier) and Ray Armstrong in Hillsboro. Affectionately know as "Gin" by her family and close friends. Glenda attended country school at Oaks School, near Valton, where her mother was employed as a teacher. When Glenda was in fifth grade, the family moved to the Sauk Prairie area where she made many new friends and was a popular and athletic student. After graduation from Sauk Prairie High School in 1965, Glenda attended Sauk County Teachers College and UW Platteville where she received her degree in elementary education in 1970. A third generation teacher, Miss Armstrong returned to Sauk Prairie where she was employed as a teacher for thirty-two years. She also served as Principal of Black Hawk Elementary School. Upon her retirement from the school district, she returned to the classroom as a volunteer.

Miss Armstrong enjoyed traveling, researching family genalogy, volunteering at the Sauk Prairie Historical Society Museum, cheering for the Badgers and Packers, "re-connecting" with former students and friends, and delighting in the companionship and antics of her cats. A hobbyist, Glenda also enjoyed collecting bicycles, cardinals, and cats.
