Gordon Ernest Gray, age 86, passed away at his home on Monday, February 3, 2014. He was born in Richland Center on March 31, 1927 to the late Ernest and Ethel (Parfrey) Gray. Gordon served in the United States Army following graduating from Richland Center High School. He married Elaine Jordan on October 20, 1950. He was formerly employed by Mautz Paint, Gisholt Foundry, and U.W. Hospital, until he retired in 1993. Gordon enjoyed building things and working with wood in his workshop at home. He enjoyed playing cards, cribbage, dominos, and watching sports, especially baseball.


He is survived by his wife, Elaine, Mazomanie; 4 children, Janet Gray, Cross Plains, Jerry Gray, Fitchburg, Sue (Jeff) Ruegsegger, Queens Creek, AZ, and Judy (Mark) Stewart, Lodi; 11 grandchildren, Kelly (Timin), Shaun, Ashley (Colin), Jessica, Brandon, Desiree, Drew, Allison, Megan, Emily, Alec; 2 great grand-children, Gavin, and Jade.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gary Gray; 4 sisters, Gena Lichty, Gyneth Griffen, Gretchen Vultaggio, Gwenda Gray; and a brother, Giles Gray.


A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 1:00 pm at the HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, 702 Emily Rd. Mazomanie. Burial will follow in the Mazomanie Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until time of service.
