Obituary

Grace May Goodwin, age 95, of Big Bend and Mukwonago passed away at Pine Villa in Prairie du Sac on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2026.  She was born Sept. 26, 1930 to Erwin and Helen (Werner) Meister.  Grace attended school in Milwaukee and went on to attend and graduate from Marquette University where she earned her degree in Dental Hygiene.  While attending Marquette she met Donn Goodwin which sparked a love story that lasted the rest of their lives. Grace and Donn were united in marriage on Oct. 11, 1952 and together they made their home in rural Big Bend where they raised their three boys, Mike, John and Chris.

Grace became a skilled and respected dental hygienist working first in Milwaukee and then Muskego for over 45 years until she finally retired at the age of 70.  Through all of her career she easily made many connections and lifelong friends with coworkers and patients.  She and Donn were avid gardeners and caretakers for their rural property along with Donn's parents who lived next door.  Their home on 20 acres became the entertainment place for great memories for their boys, grandchildren, relatives and friends.  Grace was an amazing hostess and loved having events for all occasions.  Monthly dinner parties with special friends from Marquette "the dinner group" were held at each other's homes until they no longer could.  Grace remained in Big Bend after Donn's passing on August 22, 1990; until 2000 at which time she moved to Mukwonago. In 2019 she moved to Prairie du Sac to be closer to family.  Grace enjoyed travel, and was fortunate enough to travel throughout Europe and visit most of the United States.  She was an accomplished writer with some of her work being published.  Her love of writing continued and she shared her talents with an adult writing class until she was 87 years old.  Also an artist, her sketches of birds adorn the walls of those she loved.  Grace had an eternally optimistic outlook on life and a belief in her faith and was a member of the St. James Cathloic Church, Mukwonago.

A funeral service for Grace will be held at the St. James Cathloic Church, 830 E. Veterans Way, Mukwonago on Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 11:00 am.  A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow in the Rural Home Cemetery, Big Bend.

Grace is survived by her son, Chris (Gina) Goodwin and their son, Sean; daughter in-law and wife of Mike, Dolly Goodwin and her children, Allen (Asli) Cooper and Shelly (Mike) Chapman; John's children, Geraldo Goodwin, Jacob Goodwin and Thea Goodwin-Medina; 18 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.  Grace is further survived by nieces, nephews, other cherished relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Donn; Grace was preceded by sons, Mike and John; her siblings, Roland (Dotty) Meister, Penny (Bill) Meisenheimer, Marion (Armand) Langlois.

Grace's family would like to express their warmest thanks and appreciation to the caregivers and healthcare professionals at the Pines and Pine Villa and to Kevin K. from Agrace Hospice for his wonderful care.
