Grace Dorothy (Schuerman) Scharlau, age 75, passed away Tues., Sept. 6, 2016 at her home. She was born Jan. 8, 1941 to the late Albertus and Dorothy (Lois) Schuerman. While working as a nurse at St. Mary's in Madison, she met the love of her life. She was united in marriage to William D. Scharlau May 2, 1964; he preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 2008. Grace enjoyed working at Ace Sauk Prairie for many years and was known by some as the "Hallmark Lady". She was an active member of St. Norbert's Catholic Church in Roxbury and also regularly attended St. Aloysius as well. Grace enjoyed the piano, bird watching and gardening, but, most of all she enjoyed attending and supporting her grandchildren and their events.
She is survived by her 2 daughters, Nancy (Jeff) Foster of Windsor, and Cindy (Tom) Fraser of Madison; 7 grandchildren, Allison Simon, Connor Simon, Carson Foster, Brad (Kalette) Fraser, Kiley Mulcahy, Logan Fraser, and Steven Mulcahy; 2 sisters, Blanche (Dick) Kaiser and Judy (Tim Kopet) Okulitch. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 am on Fri. Sept. 16, 2016 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 115 Madison St., Sauk City with Fr. John Blewett officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:30 am until 10:45 am at Hooverson Funeral Home, 251 Water St., Sauk City the morning of the service. A private interment will be held at St. Norbert's Cemetery, Roxbury.
