Gwen Walker, age 87, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2010. She was born on September 19, 1922 to Robert and Gladys (Huxtable) Rogers. Gwen was a graduate of Madison East High School. On December 30, 1992 she married Joe Blum. They enjoyed extensive traveling in their RV. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening, canning, freezing, rubber stamping, volunteering at church, and card making. Joe preceded her in death in March 1996.
She is survived by the children of her former marriage to James L. Walker, Dennis (Donna) of Lodi, James of King George, VA, Donald (Jeanette) of Stoughton, John (Jean) of Watertown, Dale (Helen) of Witchita, KS, and Rick (Mary Alice) of McKinney, TX; 12 grandchildren, Allan Walker, Tiffany Melchert, Brenda Pink, Jason Walker, Peggy Walker, Andrew Walker, Michelle Walker Krueger, Jenny Walker, Jeffrey Walker, Tom Walker, Tammy Caole, and Tanya Murrell; and 13 great grandchildren.
She is also survived by her stepchildren, Sandy Blum of Loganville, and Dave Blum of Sauk City. Her step son, Joseph N. Blum preceded her in death. She is survived by 8 step- grandchildren, Scott Blum, Casey Blum, Wade Blum, Mindy Breunig, Tim Blum, Lisa McClyman, Mike Blum and Angel Acker. She has 20 step-great-grandchildren.
She is further survived by her sisters Ruth (Norman) Bryhan of Madison, and Lee Rogers of Madison; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, other realtives and friends.
A visitiation will be held at First United Church of Christ, 504 Washington Avenue, Sauk City on Friday, June 11, 2010 at 9:30 am. Immediately following the visitation will be a church service celebrating her life at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in the Sauk City Cemetery.
